Malmaison Oxford, UK
This converted Victorian prison is now a stunning boutique hotel, offering unique luxury accommodation. The hotel, which forms part of the castle, opened in 2006. The castle itself was built in 1071, and was used as HMP between 1888 and 1996.
Prices start at around £150 a night.
Bodmin Jail Hotel, UK
The Bodmin Jail hotel is a luxury boutique hotel that is located in an 18th Century prison. Bodmin Jail was built in 1779, during the reign of King George III, and was designed by Sir John Call, 1st Baronet. The Jail saw over 50 public hangings in its 150 years of operation before closing in 1927.
During the Great War, the prison was used to house the Domesday Book and the Crown Jewels.
